Researching

I decided to do some research first to understand how wind generators work, different construction methods, how the electrics work for charging the batteries and using the power from the batteries. There is a lot of information on the web about this stuff.

Here are some useful sites:

Hugh Piggott's blog is also really interesting

Getting started in building a wind turbine

I decided that I wanted to save money on my electricity bill for my domestic consumption. Firstly, I looked at putting in solar panels to generate electricity, but as it turns out for that this is great for your geyser and for heating water, but not so great for powering other parts of your house. Basically, the amount of solar panels that you require makes this very expensive.

I decided instead to build a wind turbine and this blog is about what I learn about wind turbines.
